The 1700 acre project included 7.5 miles of road designed in mountainous, avalanche prone and geotechnically unstable terrain by our in house engineers. As the landscape designer, we performed conceptual design and detailed planting plans for the entry statement into the development. The inspiration for the design came from the picturesque backdrop of the La Plata Mountains and the La Plata River you cross as you enter the site. The use of native and xeric plants was used as well as boulders and rock material that was excavated from the site. Also Part of this area was the design of a custom re-built home that was once part of a working ranch at Indian Shadow Ranch. The design was to build a patio walkway’s an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor fire pit and a spa. The goal was to fit it into the natural sourrounding while maintaining it’s Rustic charm. The site enjoys panoramic views of the beautiful La Plata Mountains.
